Scott Peterson – MS, PLS, CFedS – Assistant Professor of Geomatics Engineering, Fresno State – California, USA
The surveying degree program at Fresno State has graduated many influential and prominent leaders in the surveying profession. The program has also had the fortune to be led by celebrated professors, so when Scott Peterson took an assistant professor role there only a few years ago, there was a lot of pressure. Scott has succeeded not only in maintaining the level of excellence, but he also has been able to update elements of the program to reflect new expectations and roles for surveying professionals.
Scott earned a BS in biology and general studies at BYU, then added an associate’s degree in surveying at Salt lake Community College. Having gotten the surveying bug, he went on to earn a master’s at Purdue, spent time in private surveying practice, and then signed on as an adjunct professor with Fresno State. Now an assistant professor, he is also a PhD student in geomatics engineering through Purdue.
