Surveying Instructor, St. Cloud Technical & Community College, Minnesota, USA
One (of many) nominations for Dan Kvaal calls him “a one-person army” in promoting the surveying profession. One of Dan’s greatest skills is communicating and working with others and in teams, especially evident in his teaching duties and volunteer work with the National Society of Professional Surveyors Young Surveyors Network (YSN). Dan has served as president of the YSN and is a driving force behind the growing success of its events and social media campaigns: always the go-to guy in the local, state, and national chapters of surveying associations.
Dan earned his associate’s degree in surveying and engineering technology from the North Dakota State College of Science and his bachelor’s in land surveying and mapping science from St. Cloud State University. He has worked as a survey technician and crew chief and as an engineering technician in transportation, cadastral, and engineering surveying. He has been a surveying instructor since 2015.
