Katie MacIntosh – Senior Hydrographic Surveyor, Subsea 7 – UK
We received many nominations from the field of hydrographic surveying. One of the goals of our 40 under 40 initiative is to profile stories that could inspire young folks considering entering our fields, and what we heard from hydrographic surveyors is that many of the young folks in this field lead a life of great adventure. Traveling to exciting projects all over the globe and tackling unique, often high-stakes tasks—it takes people who can think on their feet and are not afraid to take on tough jobs.
We asked for more examples of these young, somewhat “nomadic” hydrographic surveyors and were pointed to Katie MacIntosh. Katie studied geomatics engineering and marine science at the Centre of Geographic Sciences in Nova Scotia and has worked as a drafter, land survey party chief, hydrographer off the US Gulf Coast, and is now in the UK working on variety of projects around the globe.
