Sarang leads the technology implementation for the project Enhanced Situational Awareness to Improve Maritime Safety in the Baltic, funded by the European Union BONUS program. He is also an external project reviewer for the European Commission and European GNSS Agency within the H2020–Galileo–2014–1 funding program.
He is currently a member of the Board of the Nordic Institute of Navigation and is the program chair of the 2016 European Navigation Conference in Helsinki, and he is involved with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
His research interests include multi-GNSS, multi-frequency navigation receiver implementation, system design for transport safety and situational awareness, and algorithms for ice-aware maritime navigation.
Sarang lives with his wife and daughter near Helsinki, Finland where he enjoys going orienteering in the Finnish forests. His other interests include numismatics, cartography, and following global foreign policy affairs.
