In the environment of a forward-thinking, multi-disciplined surveying and engineering firm, the right person at the right time can foster a transformation. In 2005, Linda Foster was hired by Ferber Engineering Company, a civil engineering consulting firm in South Dakota, to explore using GIS. Ten years later, she has revolutionized the way the company functions at its core by incorporating geospatial technology into daily workflows.

Linda’s academic credentials include a BS in geological engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and an MS in GIS from Pennsylvania State University; she is also a licensed professional land surveyor and certified GIS professional. While many in surveying and geoinformation believe in a geospatial divide, Linda has proven that firms can thrive when they embrace a broader vision.
